Project Details
The East Village Bookstall began as a concept to pay homage to the rich history and dense cultural layers that make up my favorite neighborhood in NYC.
I envisioned an interactive pavilion situated in the heart of Abe Lebewohl Park, a small triangular ‘square’ between 2nd Avenue and East 10th Street. The Bookstall was inspired by the area’s abundant literary influences such as the Beat Generation and Nuyorican poets.
The space is intended to reflect the patrons, using buffed metal and frosted glass panes. The inside is decorated with concrete and stone, embellished with artifacts from the East Village’s cultural demographics.
